The humor was shallow and infrequent, the characters weren't developed very well at all(Steve Carell is a comedic genius who should not have taken the part of "Dan"), and the soundtrack was pretty unoriginal. Sondre Lerche is good if you're in the right mood, but a movie audience should not have to sit through 2 hours of music that doesn't really fit the mood of the film. “Dan In Real Life” was a pretty bad movie. My current "special friend (:P)" doesn't enjoy romance movies so I wouldn't watch them with her, or by myself either haha. That's probably the only category I don't watch.
